Roberts Street is the heart of the “River Arts District” in Asheville, North Carolina. This unbuilt project was to be located on a small sliver of land and would have been the pilot project for a new ‘Neighborhood Corridor’ zoning district. The six live-work studios and two commercial leasable spaces would have a view of the nearby river and would offer around 1000sf of open workspace including a loft. A central courtyard connected the units around an open stair going to the upper spaces. Large, industrial spaces provide basic living amenities and a small sleeping loft. Concrete floors, CMU walls, and available 220V power would offer artist space for various media types.
